Des Browne, the Defence Secretary, will announce a £24m investment in the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court, Surrey, on a visit there today.
A source at the Ministry of Defence said: "There is a real need for this money at Headley Court and the Defence Secretary has ordered his officials to make it a top priority."
The money will fund a new accommodation block for patients, an expanded prosthetic limb workshop, new equipment and a neurological lab where soldiers who have lost the power of speech will be taught to communicate.
Last month Princes William and Harry visited Headley Court, where Prince Harry was reunited with a badly-injured serviceman who had shared his return flight from Afghanistan in March.
Daily Telegraph 6 May 2008The announcement coincides with the start on site of a Brunel Design Group project for a 58 bed accommodation unit for staff and patients.
